Short Stories of Extraordinary and Unexpected Characters from Jewish History

Jewish history is filled with towering figures and landmark events. But what about the hidden heroes—those whose names don’t make headlines, yet whose stories still resonate today?

This four-week course offers something refreshing:Rather than focusing on the usual milestones, we’ll explore twelve powerful short stories—glimpses into the lives of remarkable, often overlooked, men and women from our past.

We’ll meet:

A Roman prince who defied an empire to embrace Torah

A Talmudic scholar who led Spain’s armies

A brave woman who saved thousands from the Inquisition

A chief rabbi taken hostage—and his life-changing choice

…and eight more extraordinary individuals from the footnotes of history

But this isn’t just history for history’s sake. Each story speaks to timeless questions:

How do we respond to crisis and captivity?

How do we use influence to uplift the world?

What are the Jewish roles of men and women?

How do we welcome those who choose Judaism?
